Seeds Under the Snow unfolds as a nomadic experience across the territory of Bergamo,  aiming at reconnecting the double dimension of the city as a gate to the industrialised flatland and an observatory towards the   mountains and the system of remote valleys. While embracing the notion of the territory as a common and the idea of capillar and diffused spatial practice, the summer school will act on three specific sites, each set in a diverse scenario representing the multifaced dimension of the city. The temporary nomadic community will settle down and camp in Parco Ermanno Olmi for the entire duration of the summer school, while wandering around the territory and working collateraly in Orti Social Porta San Giacomo and Frutteto Sass de Luna.

Parco Ermanno Olmi an urban park at the southern periphery of the town center, cut in between the railway tracks and the road infrastructure leading to the highway. Managed by the Associazione Don Giuseppe Ferrari, the park once neglected and poorly maintained has been revived through collective management and maintenance, social and cultural events.Orti Sociali Porta San Giacomo a strip of urban gardens in the heart of the historical uptown, growing on the ancient Venetian walls, at the foot of one of the old gates to the Town. Managed by Cooperativa l’Impronta who engages with people with fragilities, through educational and working experiences, while welcoming public activities.Frutteto Sass de Luna an orchard in the northern outskirt of the city, at the start of the hillside system. Initiated in 2021 by a small association that seeked to recover the agricultural work on the land, it hosts collective fruit harvesting, social gathering, cultural events and edfucational activities.
